IT Asset Disposal
Recover value from end-of-life IT equipment, with certified data destruction and responsible recycling — for any hardware brand.
IT asset disposal is an end-to-end way to retire technology: it reduces the data security and environmental risks of getting rid of old equipment, while recovering as much value from it as possible.
Old laptops, servers and phones left in a storeroom still hold your data, and they lose value the longer they sit. Tantech handles IT asset disposal for any hardware brand, from collection to certified data destruction and responsible recycling, with the documents you need for your records.

IT asset disposal: frequently asked questions
What happens to the data on our old devices?
It is sanitised to the NIST SP 800-88 standard, or the drives are physically destroyed, and you receive certificates for your records.
What documents do we receive?
You receive the legal documentation for each collection: certificates of data destruction, a serial-number report of every device processed, and confirmation of environmental processing. Keep them with your data protection and environmental records.
How is equipment collected from our sites?
We arrange collection through Lenovo Asset Recovery Services. Equipment is collected from your sites, reconciled by serial number against what you told us, and tracked until it has been processed, so you have a record of every device from the moment it leaves your building.
Do you take equipment from any manufacturer?
Yes. Through Lenovo Asset Recovery Services, we take back devices from any manufacturer, with collection, serial-number reconciliation and tracking included.
Is IT asset disposal the same as recycling?
Not quite. Recycling is one part of it. IT asset disposal also covers secure data destruction, tracking every device by serial number and recovering value through refurbishment and resale, with responsible recycling for whatever can’t be reused.
Can our old equipment help pay for a refresh?
Often, yes. Value recovered from end-of-life equipment can help offset the cost of replacing it, and makes the move from old to new simpler.
How do we get a value assessment?
Tell us what you have — the types of device, how many and roughly how old — and we’ll arrange a value assessment for your end-of-life IT equipment, so you know what it’s worth before you commit.
Is IT asset disposal environmentally responsible?
Yes. Devices are refurbished and remarketed where possible, and the rest are recycled through accredited partners holding R2, e-Stewards and ISO certifications.
